Edward ChampionIt's been two years since I last took a crack at the Modern Library Nonfiction project. But I've just dropped an essay on William H. McNeill's flawed masterpiece, THE RISE OF THE WEST. While this massive history book is a product of its times, I still believe it's worth reading today. I also think McNeill was not a neoliberal and was remarkably inclusive. Just be careful about tweed, okay? :)

I need to get a new #tweed jacket (one with thinner than the heaviest gauge Harris Tweed). I'd like pure tweed (no synthetics) and also prefer a natural fabric liner (viscose or cotton or silk), though I may have to be flexible on that.
