#TuneTuesday
On This Day in Metal — March 17th, 1992 🤘

White Zombie unleashed La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Volume One — a groove-laden, horror-infused classic that helped define ‘90s metal and launched them into the mainstream.

Today's #TuneTuesday theme of #UnexpectedWhiplash has a slew of songs that alternate between a heavy metal sound and something lighter in genres like jazz, pop, rock, etc.
But how about a soulful pop song that cuts to...uhhh, some screaming clowncore?

Could it be possible not to think of Zeal and Ardor? I don't think so. Come On Down, on their first album, really struck me the first time I heard it, and it's still a pleasure to hear the gospel suddenly melting into black metal blasts:

Another song (album, actually) that came immediately to mind is Board Up The House by Genghis Tron. The opening song — that is also the title of the album — opens as an electronic track, with this simple beat and these few notes almost in repeat, when it suddenly breaks into grindcore:

The whole album is playing with this contrast between eery electronic music and pure grindcore wrath. My favourite song from this album is probably I Won't Come Back Alive, which alternates between these extremes perfectly:
