This recording from Blowzabella’s early days of the well known “Bear Dance” is listed as “Bear Dance No. 3” - so is it the/a third recording of it, or are there two other Bear Dances that didn’t become popular? Anyone know?

I hadn’t listened to any Jack Armstrong for ages until last night - I love the simplicity of his playing. Here he is with Proudlock’s Hornpipe, which this recording gives a forename to too (which I had forgotten) -

Brought on my my recent reading, I wanted to remind y’all that Dave Shepherd’s “Rose of Raby” is an excellent tune and sounds lovely on the smallpipes. I’ve even played it on my own hummelchen recently!
Anyone else have a folk tune to share this #TuneswapTuesday ?

What @folkmusic are y’all listening to this morning? The St Chartier Set at the start of Andy Cutting and Nigel Eaton’s “Panic at the Café” made a really nice start to my #TuneswapTuesday this morning - https://nigeleaton.bandcamp.com/album/panic-at-the-caf

What folk music are y’all listening to today? I’m starting my day with a bit of a medley of balfolk stuff; Blowzabella’s “Rose of Raby” is still an absolute banger.

Blowzabella – The Newman Rooms, Oxford – DANCE @ The Newman Room - Oct 24, 2025, 7:30PM

Rumour has it that Blowzabella did the first ever Oxfolk dance in the early 1980s. They’re back in Oxford - in association with Oxfolk Ceilidhs to play for dancing. It's a dance but if you just want to come and listen you are very welcome. They'll be playing songs and tunes from across their colourful 47 year history. Doors open 7:30pm. Band onstage 8pm. Finishes about 11pm.Tickets: Age 25 and over £20. Age 24 and under £10. Age 11 and under Free.

Listening to this while making a sandwich, I couldn’t help starting to dance. It’s Tom Moore and Archie Moss’s “Pop One”.

Which means that for the first time in aages it is #TuneswapTuesday - has anyone else got a #FolkTune they’d like to share?

Happy #TuneswapTuesday all those who celebrate it.
This is Sandra Kerr and John Faulkner singing Peggy Seeger’s “Song of Choice”, for obvious reasons.
