Tullamore Murals 2026 – 2030 Artists Panel

Offaly County Council, in partnership with Tullamore Tidy Towns and supported by Creative Ireland, is establishing an Artist Panel to deliver original, large scale exterior murals that will activate public spaces, celebrate Tullamore’s identity, and create a self guided mural trail across the town centre and key approach routes.

Leath Cuinn (Conn's Half) and Leath Moga (Mug's half) are legendary ancient divisions of Ireland, respectively north and south of a line corresponding to the #EskerRiada running east–west from #DublinBay to #GalwayBay. The eponymous Conn and Mug were #ConnCétchathach (Conn of the Hundred Battles) and #ÉoganMór #MugNuadat (the Servant of Nuada), whose armies in 123 AD fought the battle of #MagLena (the Plain of Lena, in what is now #CountyOffaly between #Tullamore and #Durrow).

Auf der weiteren Fahrt sind wir vom #Shannon abgebogen, in den #Grand_Canal, der seit 1830 den Shannon auf 131 KM, über #Tullamore mit #Dublin verbindet. Dabei gibt es 36 #Staustufen mit tollen #handgemachten #Schleusen, die mit #Muskelkraft betreiben werden.
Da unser #Hausboot, wegen fehlender #Lizenz, den Kanal nicht befahren darf, war nach knapp 500 Metern, vor Schleuse Nr. 36 für uns Schluss. Wir legten an. Unser Platz für die Nacht liegt mitten in der #Natur vor einer alten Schleuse.
