Sometimes when I'm talking with a faculty group, I'll say something along the lines of the fact that I think teaching should be fun for me.
Doesn't sound too altruistic, I know, but I think if you unpack it a bit there's something there. I think if we are having fun, we're probably more confident and doing a better job, which will, in turn, help students learn.
