[2/2] When Selena recorded this song, she was sick, so her voice had a bit more raspy tone to it. She hesitated in recording because she didn’t want it to sound bad, but after her dad pushed her to give it a try, it turned out to be perfect and the hoarse voice blended well with the ranchera / mariachi style of the song.

There have been several covers of this song, but the most memorable, in my opinion, was Selena’s version from the 𝘿𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙛 𝙔𝙤𝙪 album. It originally was made for the movie 𝘿𝙤𝙣 𝙅𝙪𝙖𝙣 𝘿𝙚𝙈𝙖𝙧𝙘𝙤 released in 1995 with Marlon Brando, Johnny Depp, & Faye Dunaway.
