Victoria gallery showcases Tseshaht artist George Clutesi
''Clutesi, who rose to national and international recognition through his art and writing, including his participation in Expo 67, remains a towering figure in the history of Indigenous cultural expression in Canada. Yet his most profound legacy, Walsh says, may lie in the personal connections and inspiration he sparked in others.''

Alberni Valley News

I had mixed feelings this morning as I listened to CBC Radio Victoria broadcast from a coffee shop in my town while I was stuck commuting to work.

I am so glad I was able to listen to so many voices I personally know speak so well about my town. Yet I am so sad that I wasn't able to hang out with them all and cheer them on in person!

LOVE MY TOWN. ❤️❤️❤️

A Tseshaht First Nation woman is among a group of rugby players that made history at the Paris Olympics. Shalaya Valenzuela is a member of the Canadian women’s rugby sevens club that captured the silver medal at the Games on Tuesday. The second-place finish marked Canada’s best Olympic result in the sport. Canada had earned a bronze medal at the 2016 Games in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janiero. That marked the first time the sport was introduced into Olympic competition. As for this year’s Games, Canada was downed 19-12 by New Zealand in the gold-medal match.

Super proud of a local member of Tseshaht First Nation winning a silver medal with Canada’s Rugby Sevens team! She was a last minute call up in the reserve, didn't get to play on the field, but every team sport has those players and they are just as deserving as anyone else! The team can't exist without them!

CONGRATS OLYMPIAN SHALAYA!
