Two articles on RNZ news online today sights how things are going on the employment front in NZ.
First off is NZTA revoking 440 commercial driving licenses. An audit of overseas drivers licences, accepted by the same body over the years, has found anomaly. Most of these drivers have been driving our roads for a number of years. Now, they have no license and no job.
Second off is the plight students are finding themselves seeking work over the summer break. The task sees hundreds of applicants applying for a single advertised job. No surprise there. Almost anyone looking for a job, has that problem.
Two very different scenarios, but the outcome is the same. Christmas is probably not being delivered to many, one way or the other.
