We are publishing here the tribute to Helen Halyard given by Chris Marsden, the national secretary of the Socialist Equality Party (UK), to a memorial meeting for Helen held December 3.
The task of this lecture is to outline the historical experiences out of which the #Trotskyist movement emerged as the sole continuation of #Marxism and to introduce the basic political conceptions of Trotskyism which were defended from 1953 by the ICFI.
My experience of white liberals as a brown Marxist can be summed up in two lines:
"He ain't a crook son
He just a shook one."
Never fucking trust them. Backstabbers, collaborators and snitches.
Brust is a #Trotskyist, part of the cadre of #Marxist fantasy writers whose work is notable for getting the ratio of vassals to nobles right - while Tolkien might sprinkle a few picturesque peasants in the background for color, Brust devotes multiple volumes of the Taltos saga to the vast, numberless peasants whose toil is necessary to maintain the perfumed lives of the lords and ladies who are normally in the foreground of high fantasy.

Following the ousting of President Castillo last December, the struggle in Peru is sharpening, with state repression against protestors and activists. The international labour movement must show solidarity with Peruvian workers and peasants.
