No power here in our corner of Virginia since 1:30 Friday afternoon. In the high winds of the tropical storm Helene, a tree fell against the power lines somewhere in our grid. Not expected to have electric until 11pm Sunday, tho they anticipate the majority will have it sooner than that. Let’s hope.
Waiting for dad to wake up so I can help him down the stairs without the benefit of the chair lift. We will plan out what we want from the fridge so I can open the door with lightning speed and grab quickly. Got a gallon of milk in there and yogurt, the main things to eat before it goes bad.
I can hear a couple others who have generators running. We didn’t opt for that as we don’t lose power for long. We are far from the coast and in the mountains so storms usually wind down to rain and wind by the time it reaches us. Still, our roof shingles are rated for 65mph winds and I know we’ve had gusts like that. They estimate we got over 2 inches of rain here yesterday. No damage here. #tropicalstormhelene
