I Sweden, we are overrun by canada geese (Branta canadensis), but Soumenlinna / Sveaborg was full of barnacle geese (Branta leucopsis) busy raising their babies. Soumenlinna was chock full of other impressive, important and interesting things, too. I'm so glad we went.

Helsinki architecture is something else. I could -- and someday I will -- just stroll around, gaping at all the marvellous details. I'm thinking that living in a place like that, where such apparent joy and care went into building homes for people, must make it's inhabitants a little bit happier. I know I'd smile every time I was greeted by these squirrels.

I've been to Finland, not for the first time but PROPERLY for the first time. I was smitten.
Helsinki is hands down the most beautiful city I've ever been to. I could go on for hours -- or millions of pics -- but this is not the place for that. Just: go there, people.
These lynx adorn one of the gate posts to majestic Marmoripalatsi / Marmorpalatset (which is apparently up for sale if you can spare some 10 million Euros), one of countless magnificent buildings in the city centre.
