"Trinity Cube", part of Trevor Paglen's Sites Unseen exhibition at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in 2018, is made of two types of glass. The outer layer is made of irradiated glass collected from the Fukushima exclusion zone. The inner core is Trinitite, created when the first atomic bomb was tested in New Mexico in 1945. This is an artist's proof and is not radioactive. The actual cube was placed back in the Fukishima exclusion zone, where it will be safe to view by the public somewhere between 3 and 30,000 years from now.

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED: BELANCIEGE

@Linux Would you say there is no #SecretScience today but that it all ended in the 1950's?

For example, does everyone know what the 15 people on the remote atoll of #Kwajalein (Reagan Test Site) do in every detail?

You could direct message me. Fun to talk about this art project based on history and academic research. Paglen is pretty cool. Ever seen I Could Tell you but then You Would have to be Destroyed by Me? Aesthetically is a good mode to bring up real matters people wouldn't otherwise be able to give themselves permission to approach intellectually.

"The show asks viewers: 'What is this ambiguity? How are we susceptible to being taken advantage of in these moments?'
"'Our impulse is to try to resolve that ambiguity, to make sense of it,' he went on. But for Paglen, the show is meant to remind us that our 'inability to live with ambiguity might be a means by which we can be manipulated.'"
