I distinctly remember wanting to see this because it was written by Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale rather than for Walter Hill or the cast. Think I was disappointed by it.
In #Castlebar, few people want to go on the record about the #BurkeFamily.
The town's fundamentalist fugitives #MartinaBurke and #AmmiBurke are nowhere to be seen. The duo are sentenced to a fortnight of imprisonment for #ContemptOfCourt, like Ammi's brother #EnochBurke who is held indefinitely held for repeated #trespass.
#JusticeCregan called it a "family circus". Who wants to be caught up in that?

SHORT THREAD: On Monday, extremist #transphobe #EnochBurke was returned to prison for continued #ContemptOfCourt, by #trespass at #WilsonsHospital school.
At the #HighCourt #IEHC, #MrJusticeCregan released his written judgment on Tuesday. #CreganJ was again blunt about Burke's "performative nonsense", "avalanche of lies", and legal self-harm.
CreganJ repeated that "Burke has the keys to his own prison"; and can be released if he promises not to trespass.

@christineburns And that's why I admire the jurisprudence of #Cregan . Given the huge holes in legal frameworks, he has used a rather Tory approach to property rights as a basis of liberty.
He has labelled the offence as #trespass, but his application of it protects secular freedom of conscience and freedom from harassment. I reckon that #JusticeCregan has done a good job with inadequate tools.

Sorry this reply turned out to be so long. I got a bit carried away thinking out loud.
@christineburns I do take your important point about the focus on property rights rather than hate. To be fair, the judgments in #EnochBurke have taken a much broader view of #trespass as an inujry to the whole school community rather than just to property rights; but it's true that trespass is a concept founded in property law rather than civil liberty or personal safety. Not a great starting point.
But it's still an interesting approach.
