"You do not go negate, with a single stroke of a pen, 184 years of debate and discussion, with a bill that I think is very simplistic."

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day ...
"Did the Treaty give different rights to different groups, or does every citizen have equal rights? I believe all New Zealanders deserve to have a say on that question."
#DavidSeymour, 2024
The No Idea party agrees. Does the right to live in David Seymour's house and inherit wealth from from his parents belong to one group, or does every citizen have equal rights? We believe all New Zealanders deserve to have a say on that question.
"Their criticism is not surprising, in fact it's expected because the Treaty Principles Bill by defining the principles does the job that they've been supposed to do for the last 48 years, so it's not surprising that they resent that job being done by Parliament.
Parliament asked them to do it in 1975, and Parliament has the right to say 'Well, if you haven't done a very good job we're going to do it for you'."

Rather than letting ACT frame the constitutional debate about the future of Aotearoa ...
... maybe the best way to respond to the [Breaking the] Treaty Principles Bill is to write about our thoughts on the deeper constitutional issue explored by Matike Mai?
"I disagree with the idea of a treaty."

Oops! Yet another over-excited propertarian saying the quiet part out loud. This is perhaps the most honest statement I've ever heard from an ACT supporter talking about Te Tiriti o Waitangi ; )

"[PM Christopher Luxon] cannot have this both ways. He cannot be the person who wants to lead as a statesman in this country, and at the same time, indulge the racism."

The key to being a good politician magician is misdirection ...
..
While Māordom has been in an uproar about the Treaty Principles Bill... the coalition government has quietly set the wheels in motion for at least 28 pieces of legislation to have their Treaty clauses reviewed and potentially removed.
“...that might have far more substantive impacts, but it’s flown totally under the radar,”
"It’s worth remembering that the Three Waters Bill included a binding Treaty principles clause which would likely have proved a significant barrier to any plan to privatise New Zealand’s water supply. Perhaps that’s a key reason why it faced such a withering political attack."

Definitely the reason. Watch them try to do the same thing in the future, in a rush, without those protections.
With all the scare tactics and misinformation swirling around about Te Tiriti, this is valuable work.
