N’DJAMENA, Chad (AP) — Chad’s President Mahamat Idriss Deby on Thursday announced that his country will suspend the issuance of visas to U.S. citizens in response to the Trump administration’s decision to ban Chadians from visiting the U.S.

Chad has no planes to offer, no billions of dollars to give but #Chad has his dignity and pride,” Deby said, referring to the $400 million luxury plane offered to his administration as a gift by the ruling family of Qatar.

<<President Trump is out with a new "supercharged" travel ban that overwhelmingly targets people from countries in Africa, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. As my colleague Isabela Dias explains, the executive order "amounts to an even more sweeping bar than the infamous travel ban on Muslim-majority nations Trump implemented during his first term."

But the two bans share a theme: Neither has any evidence that they do anything to make Americans safer. In fact, they are equally as cruel as they are racist. Oh, and dumb as hell. Just take a look:

Upon announcing the executive order, President Trump brought up the recent attack in Boulder, Colorado, against a group of demonstrators calling for Israeli hostages in Gaza to be released. The perpetrator of the attack is an Egyptian national who authorities say entered the United States on a tourist visa in 2022 and later applied for asylum; this, Trump said, “has underscored the extreme dangers posed to our country by the entry of foreign nationals.” Egypt, however, isn’t included in the list of countries targeted by the executive order. When asked about it, Trump said that Egypt “has been a country that we deal with very closely. They have things under control.”>>
