Who would feel “discomfort” about the uncensored history of Georgia? Well, maybe it’s Gov. Kemp himself.  Because it was the Kemp family, then known as the Habershams, that first brought Africans in chains to Georgia.

Maybe Kemp and family should feel a bit of discomfort.  I spoke with Janie Banse, who told me she is she is heartsick that her cousin, Gov. Kemp, won’t admit that their family’s wealth originated in the African slave trade.

“Divisive Concepts Law”:  These DCL’s terrorize teachers with the threat of losing their jobs if they dare teach the truth of America’s racial history:  That white people enslaved Africans, that the Klan enforced racial vote suppression with the hanging rope.  if,
“….any individual should feel discomfort, guilt, anguish, or any other form of psychological distress on account of his or her race or sex….”
As a practical matter, it means teaching the truth of America’s racial stain will get you fired.

No President of a Major American University has Deplored the Israeli Destruction of all Gaza Universities

Ann Arbor (Informed Comment) - American campuses are being roiled by student and faculty protests against the ongoing Israeli atrocities in Gaza, which the International Court of Justice has found to be plausibly described as a genocide. These harmless student demonstrations, of a sort that have been normal throughout the past sixty years, have been met with a harsh police response and criminalization by university administrators unmatched since the Kent State University president called in the National Guard on May 4, 1970, when green troops panicked and killed four students. Charges that these peaceful on-campus rallies are antisemitic in character

#OpenBordersOvercomeTheNonsenseOfNationalism: According to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, a United Nations resolution signed and ratified by almost every country on earth, “All peoples have the right of self-determination.” It’s frequently assumed that such self-determination includes the right to exclude. That presumed right, however, especially in regard to forcibly displaced people, bars migrants from their own self-determination. If people are pushed out of one place and denied access to another, their self-determination is reduced to a figment.

He had raised concerns last year that Texas’ crackdown on immigration could imperil the work of church-based groups on immigration.
“The church is at risk because the volunteers are asking themselves, ‘If I feed someone who’s unprocessed, if I give someone a blanket who’s unprocessed, if I help them get off the street, am I liable to be prosecuted for that?’” Garcia told a bipartisan delegation of U.S. senators visiting El Paso in January 2023. “Shame on us, that on this day, this is even being brought up in the United States.”

What climate problem: Exxon reported a total of $36 billion in profits with $32.4 billion paid to shareholders, while Chevron took home $21.4 billion and paid out $26.3 billion, putting them behind only Apple, Microsoft, and Google parent Alphabet for total payouts from a U.S. company. The shareholder payouts far surpassed what either company had planned to spend on climate solutions.

Last week, Congress passed a resolution—for the third time—that would keep the government open and fund WIC at its pre-existing level, or $1 billion less than what’s needed to fully fund the program. At least 2 million women and children  are at risk of being turned away by September if WIC is not funded to its full capacity, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. If that happens, women and children will likely be put on waiting lists for the first time in over 25 years, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

#Omnicide: Why do irresponsible U.S. nuclear weapons policies persist, even after Democrat and Republican presidents, Cabinet secretaries, CIA directors, NSA directors, and 4-star generals all warn us they are wildly reckless and unnecessary?
In my experience, working with advocacy groups like Physicians for Social Responsibility and International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, it is because ordinary people prefer not to talk about it, or think about it… Apparently, none of us truly believes a nuclear catastrophe will happen.

But, hey, former Harvard University president Claudine Gay improperly cited some of her sources, so really her appointment was the biggest racial injustice story of the year. Not Tyre Nichols, who was lynched by a group of Memphis cops. Not Niani Finlayson, who was fatally shot by a Los Angeles police officer mere seconds after he arrived on the scene to respond to a domestic violence call she made. Not Leonard Allan Cure, who spent 16 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit, was exonerated, and was shot to death by police during a traffic stop.
