@stevegis_ssg Alas, I tried a couple of months back but the Australian Red Cross said no, because of the #TransientIschaemicAttack I had back in 2023.

I even got a letter from a GP first saying that I was stable and medically fit to donate but still no joy. :(

@UncleDuke1969 @Unixbigot And I WOULD go donate blood were it not for the permanent block placed on me due to the #TransientIschaemicAttack in 2023. Apparently the Red Cross is concerned that the drop in blood pressure from donating might trigger another #TIA. This despite having a letter from a GP saying that I’m medically fit to donate blood. :(

Chortle. The prescription meds I’m carrying as a result of the #TransientIschaemicAttack never even came up at all when I entered #Japan… but there’s a question on the Australian #Biosecurity form explicitly targeting that sort of thing.

And I know better than to dodge that. I’ve ***worked*** with the Biosecurity crew, lo these many #MOGs ago

Oh well, I still have the medical summary/prescriptions I got before leaving, I’ll be fine. :)

Can we please have a moment of silence for the soon-to-be-departed sanity of whichever Japanese customs officer is going to have to try to read my handwriting on the Customs Declaration and on the Disembarkation card.

My writing was **always** terrible, and it’s probably the one area where I’ve noticed real degradation as a result of the #TransientIschaemicAttack #CherryBlossoms2025

General Update ahead of Cherry Blossoms 2025

OK, deep breath.

One of the few bits of good news to come out of the #TransientIschaemicAttack I had on 1/09/2023 was seeing a cardiologist post an ultrasound of the heart to be told: “so long as you maintain reasonable diet and exercise I won’t need to see you again.”
@doskel @troberts I am, marginally, a touch typer on a QWERTY layout, getting THAT back after the #TransientIschaemicAttack in September 2023 was a key sign of my recovery. I don’t think that I could adapt to another layout at this stage, regardless of how inefficient it might be…
Re last boost: Hmmm. I had had mild(ish) cases of #COVID before the #TransientIschaemicAttack in September 2023 and although i believe that lifestyle issues (that I've since been working on correcting) WERE the primary cause, it is possible that the COVID was a contributing factor.
In the aftermath of the #TransientIschaemicAttack I was asked to get an #EchoCardiogram done. That’s essentially an ultrasound of the heart, followed by a consult with a cardiologist.
Back in September 2023 when the #TransientIschaemicAttack happened I was over 100kg, and basically hadn’t been under 80kg for as long as I could remember. Then I started on the #LiteNEasy diet.
