I ended up with an extra copy of "We Will Rise Again" because I forgot that I had pre-ordered it (oopsie), but I'm very pleased it auctioned for $65 for Point of Pride during the #transrightsreadathon auction. @annaleen.bsky.social @older.bsky.social @pointofpride.org

I'm still reading my fourth #TransRightsReadathon book (Pretty by KB Brookins -- it's intense and can't be gulped down) so I've donated $40 to the Transgender Law Canter and $40 to a local organization that I've found helpful.

I haven't seen a whole lot of posts about the readathon this year, I hope people are talking about it other places.

@eryngium Check the #transrightsreadathon tag! Us by Sara Soler is a good introduction especially for well meaning allies on how to be supportive. Homebody by Theo Parish is similar but a non-binary prespective. Antiboy by Valentijn Hoogenkamp is a nice exploration of gender feeling and dilemmas.

My third #TransRightsReadathon book was The Left Hand of Dog, an excellent recommendation from @Knien . It's just the kind of audiobook I like -- lots of distinct voices, and all British as a plus. 😂 The story is good silly fun, full of geeky references -- Spock's brain, I about died! -- but also has a lot of humanity, as femme-agender-asexual-disabled Lem finds herself feeling home at last with the motliest crew of silly aliens imaginable.

I think it might have felt too twee for my tastes in print, but the audio really sells it. First in a series.

These nights, when Gramma fell asleep in her rocker, Luba knelt on all fours to press her ear to the rug; she heard the Undersea rising, the roar of the sea-lions, a faint song of sirens luring shi…

Beneath Ceaseless Skies - To Balance the Weight of Khalem by R.B. Lemberg

He lifts the onion to the lantern’s lone light, and in it, I suddenly see: the goldwork towers and walls of the Old City; the broken bridge, jagged after a recent bombing yet still shining; rows of humble houses etched in ebullient metal; the curve and sway of the historical museum. I reach out my hand, and he drops the city into it. It feels warm in my palm.

"What makes queer- and trans-antagonism from Black Folks especially hurtful is the cognitive dissonance. It's as if Black queer and trans people are somehow outside the normal that Black Liberation would bring. It's as if there is such a thing as safe Black people. We're all unsafe in the eyes of anti-Black U.S.A. We're all unsafe no matter how cishet or respectable we appear."

I tried The Burnt Toast B&B for the #TransRightsReadathon but it's not really my cuppa so I'm DNFing. I think I originally bought it because I wanted to support including a trans character in an m/m romance series, so I guess my work there is done. 😂

Still reading Pretty by KB Brookins, which is really powerful writing.
