"With masked paramilitary forces grabbing nonwhite people from the streets and shooting civilians with impunity, it can be difficult to keep focus on all the other ways Republicans are entrenching a #fascist status quo nationwide. For #trans people, however, the legislative and policy assaults, which have been escalating red states for nearly a decade, are only getting worse — and, as ever, drawing all too little concern from Democratic leaders.

"Just last week, the Kansas legislature passed some of the most far-reaching measures to push trans and #GenderNonconforming people out of public life to date. Bathroom bans that bar trans people from restrooms aligned with their gender identity have become grimly common; over 20 states have such a law on the books. But Kansas’s new anti-trans bathroom bill adds a dangerous twist: a #BountyHunter provision.

"The law would permit private citizens to sue and seek monetary reward based on claiming to encounter a trans person in the bathroom. That’s on top of some of the harshest punishments of any existing bathroom bans, such as criminal charges, steep fines and even jail time.

"As journalist and trans rights advocate Erin Reed first reported, the bill’s vague language means that its reach could extend beyond public buildings — the remit of most bathroom bans around the country.

" 'As written, it would not only be the first bathroom bounty law to target transgender people directly, but also the first to extend a bathroom ban into private spaces,' noted Reed, “effectively creating the nation’s first private bathroom ban if enacted by empowering bounty hunters to search for trans people in bathrooms.'

"Kansas Republicans rushed through the bathroom ban, skirting public comment by essentially sneaking the bill into another piece of legislation aimed at denying trans people correct government IDs. The ID legislation is in and of itself extreme: it would invalidate driver’s licenses, government IDs, and even birth certificates that don’t list a person’s sex as assigned at birth.

"The bill would require trans people to surrender their correctly identifying driver’s license or risk a misdemeanor offense for driving with a invalid license. Trans Kansans would thus have to choose between carrying identification with their assigned sex at birth — inviting potentially further harassment and violence in public — or forgoing aspects of public life entirely. It’s a policy in line with the Trump administration’s move to stop issuing accurate passports to trans Americans."

I'm neither a #US citizen nor #trans nor #nonbinary, (and yes these things ain't necessarily correlated!) but if I were I'd certainly #GTFO and find an #immigration #lawyer to check options given the #TransGenocide that is being orchestrated.

Cuz legally #ForcedDetransition is just that! THIS is exactly how the #Nazis trapped Trans* and Nonbinary individuals as well as Jews and opposition figures in Germany: By refusing to issue #Passports or having them stamped with a red J.

Refusing to issue documents consistent with someone's gender identity is basically an "invisible T-Stamp" because in the age of #NakedScanners * this will get people incarcerated, denied entry or deported for "identitiy fraud".

Just like #Switzerland and #Sweden denied people without explicit visa entry if they had a red J stamped on their #passports!

I was reminded again of a case of #transErasure while #watchingBabylon5.

Ambassador Delenn goes thru a metamorphosis in a chrysalis during the show where she transforms from a minbari to minbari-human mix... BUT... I believe JMS confirmed that this was also supposed to be a gender transition, as in the character of Delenn was originally male Minbari, who transitions to female (human/minbari?)... You can see this in the pilot movie: strong chin, kinda butch. In the series they femmed her up.

The German History Museum wants to preserve #queer and #LGBTQIA* history and is actively looking for pieces to archive for #QueerHistory.

They are explicitly asking for memorabilia, stories, and (historical) artifacts.

So I guess folks should ping Jessica Price and the entire queer #community to save what they can from the #Trump regime...

Espechally given #BookBans and #TransErasure this is important!

"President Donald Trump’s administration has vanished another inconvenient fact: the number of transgender people in #immigration #detention.

"Immigration and Customs Enforcement quietly stopped reporting how many transgender people it keeps locked up in February, as the total population of immigrants in detention soared and the agency rescinded protections for trans people.

"The move follows Trump’s executive order in January to essentially stop recognizing that trans people exist. According to the nonprofit Vera Institute of Justice, it appears to run afoul of a congressional mandate to report how many transgender and other vulnerable people are being kept in immigration detention.

"The move has complicated advocates’ efforts to keep trans immigrants safe behind bars, where they face a heightened risk of violence and medical neglect.

" 'It’s part and parcel of a larger effort to really erase trans people,' said Bridget Crawford, the director of law and policy for the nonprofit advocacy group #ImmigrationEquality. 'They are not even willing to try to track the trans population, despite the congressional mandate.'

"Her group released a survey last year finding 'systemic' mistreatment of #LGBTQ+ and #HIVPositive people in immigration detention. About one third of the respondents reported sexual and physical #abuse or #harassment, and nearly all reported verbal abuse, including threats of violence. Most said they received inadequate medical care or were denied care outright.

"Congress directed the Department of Homeland Security, the parent agency of ICE, to report the number of transgender people in detention starting in 2021, according to the Vera Institute."

Although it isn't making even the fringes of the mainstream discourse surrounding the fascist GOP's election-rigging SAVE Act, the reality is that unless nazis with an eliminationist agenda towards trans people make some sort of exception, the bill will likely disenfranchise every trans person in America who has legally changed their name, and quite possibly most people who are in the process of transition and thus have ID that may be inconsistent with their presentation or other documents:

"Much of the news coverage of the SAVE Act has focused almost entirely on the broad category of “married women” — a bloc of 69 million who may not have updated documents. But arguably, such a law is aimed directly at transgender people in addition to affecting married people who change their names. And that’s not to mention the 140 million U.S. citizens who don’t have passports and tens of millions who also don’t have easy access to a birth certificate. Regardless, the fact that trans people are at the center of this story has been easy to sideline: A story published by NPR last week listed eight things to know about this legislation — but didn’t mention the implications for trans people at all."

At this point can anyone who has been paying attention (a very small group indeed, as far as I can tell) claim to be surprised that trans-eliminationist nazis are trying to pass a law that further erases trans people from public life and social participation, yet most of American society hasn't even registered that as a potential consequence of this disastrous, anti-democratic bill? After all, when the president of the United States signed an executive order more or less saying that trans people didn't exist, which historically is a sure sign that a government intends to make that a reality, most Very Serious PeopleTM in our discourse shrugged and pointed to public polling as an excuse to not speak out to defend trans people. So why would this act of erasure and disenfranchisement be any different?

"Benfield is concerned that not naming trans people as a target of this legislation contributes to an insidious process that is ongoing: the erasure of trans people from public life in general.

“It’s going to affect lots of different kinds of people,” she said of the SAVE Act. “But the reason that the erasure of trans people worries me in this conversation is that it’s consistent with strategic erasure from the public sphere that’s already been happening.”

That strategic erasure includes President Donald Trump’s series of executive orders attacking so-called “gender ideology” and both state and national legislation that attempts to criminalize support for trans youth in physical and social transition. There are now only two genders — “male” and “female”— and anyone who falls outside of that could potentially face being pushed out of public life, including schools, sports, restroom facilities, and now voting itself. Even policies like Trump’s executive orders that aren’t immediately enforceable create a chilling effect, pushing trans people into the closet through intimidation."

I would hope that because it requires sixty votes in the Senate, the SAVE Act is a dead on arrival bill; but I can't say I'm all that confident in a Democratic Party that is openly blaming the results of an election they seemingly *tried* to lose on their (actually, nonexistent) support of trans rights, and its ability to protect people like me. Even if the SAVE Act is shot down however, the fact that this attempt at the mass disenfranchisement of trans people in American civic life doesn't even rate a talking point in this very public debate, strongly implies that when these bills only target trans people, the establishment "opposition" to the fascist agenda will continue to shrug, offer empty words of condolence, and simply let it happen; which is pretty much par for the course in the fascist Trump 2.0 era.

To say that living in a society where your rights and even your existence are not so much up for debate, but rather already judged to be either irrelevant, or non-existent, is surreal and unnerving, would be an understatement of massive proportions. I guess there is one upside here however, because if trans people can no longer vote, perhaps I'll finally be free of liberals who honestly don't give a rats ass about my life, screaming at me to support a Democratic Party that doesn't care whether I live or die, while pretending their party is a much better advocate for my right to exist, than they actually are.
