Small bleed after. No pain or discomfort though, but that's the norm for us now.

My understanding is that monotherapy requires a larger dose of injectables. Like physically more liquid.

I've heard of people doing it in their thighs. However from what i know. Doing it in the Gluteus Maximus (butt muscle) should be better.
The more muscle mass should help absorb the larger amount of liquid.
And work well with the release time of the ester.

That's how trans men's monotherapy works here.

Now there's some complications for DIY:
- You'll need a much larger and longer needle.
- There's some important nerves here you really don't want to hit.
- Harder to do on your own.
- Butt soreness might be worse for you.
- Getting a longer release ester might be difficult to find.

Ideally our monotherapy should be a once-a-month thing. Like how trans men have it here.

It would fit neatly into the ovulation stuff, i talked about before too.

Been thinking about monotherapy more and more.

Trans men get testosterone monotherapy.

There's different risk to high estrogen levels compared to testosterone. Estrogen in by itself usually isn't enough on prescribed doses to suppress testosterone production. That's why we get antiandrogens.

There's already risks and side effects of taking antiandrogens. I'm wondering if i would feel better on monotherapy and ditch the antiandrogens for good.

Have you been on estrogen+antiandrogens and are now on monotherapy. Felt any differences?

A few hours later than planned 😅

We did the injection just before midnight, so it still just about counts as being done on the correct day

It was actually a pretty decent injection, considering we've been up since 0630 UTC, which was, erm, about, counts on fingers, fails, uses calculator, about 17.5 hours ago.

That may not sound like a long time ago for younger folks, but it's worth remembering that we're a burnt-out, 42-year-old, AuDHD mess, so the fact that we can type this right now is impressive...

... and entirely due to some choice medication choices earlier on 😅

No injection pain, but did seemingly hit a small capillary again, probably because we're so beyond tired, so had a bit of a slow bleed, but nothing a fabric plaster couldn't stop 🩹

Almost falling asleep (like barely staying awake, but worse), but need to keep going, so caffeine and sugar it is!!!

Pretty sure we hit near a nerve on the way in, but that's why we have the auto-stabber: it doesn't care and doesn't stop 😅

Tiny bit of blood on the way out, even after releasing the Z-track hold with the other hand, but definitely not a bleeder like last week.

Taking a 'pam a few hours back certainly definitely helped 😏🤭

Had a perfect stab with no pain or even discomfort. However, the moment we pulled the needle out, whooooooooooosh with the blood!

This is a really good reminder that even when you've been literally doing injections for years, you can and will sometimes get a bleeder.

It's why it's recommended to always have something on hand to stop the bleeding, as it'll quickly stop (barring you having issues with clotting or taking certain meds).

And always have your medical plaster (aka bandaid) ready to go 🩹

Now we're thinking of the Republica song of that name lol 🤭
