Archie and Cassie get the nod from Maxwell Knight and investigate 9 Carlton Terrace, the mothballed German Embassy. They find a weird kite in the basement, and then it gets creepy. They know that the Thule-Gesellshaft employed Rat-Things but what they find is even more unsettling than a rat with tiny human hands using a telephone.

Archie and Cassie are back in Oxford having been away for some months. War is going in earnest and they consult with contacts as to where they might go next. Ultima Thule seems a clue so they'll be following where that leads.

A short session. Death is annoyed and threatening but quite easily placated by freeing the spirits from their prison. It's then placed in a leaded box to stop it hoovering up local ghosts. Archie and Cassie return home from the Dreamlands via a backdoor they created over 200 sessions ago, on the way hiding their find in an Aethyr, in a house were Evariste Galois's spirit resides.

It's back to Sarkomand, noticing on the way there that ice is covering the north of the Dreamlands. They recover from a temple roof the spirit catcher that was placed to catch the energies of the deaths when Mnomquah was to have destroyed Hazuth-Kleg. Unfortunately this attracts Death, a vulture headed monster that has a claim on all passing in H-K.

Archie and Cassie consult with Atal who has a binding ritual for them. They fly to the moon with a Nodens priest and pass Mnomquah going the other way who turns to chase them and their Oorn braincase. They drop the braincase in the hole left by Hecate's skeleton and bind the Old One in there. The Dark Young it summons is kept busy by Nightgaunts summoned by the priest. Oof.

Archie and Cassie track a purloined piece of the dead god's brain to a cult in Hazuth-Kleg but return to Ulthar to consult with Atal the Wise. It seems that the cult might be a move to redirect the attention of the dead god's mate and so a daring heist is undertaken, along with clever use of magic, to retrieve the brain case.

Exploring the tunnels under Sarkomand and find the pit wherein the god resided and the Men of Leng still throw their offering, Cassie and Archie find an enormous carcase, a result of a much earlier action of their. They dodge parasites and follow in the footsteps of earlier visitors to find out what they did here.
