@srol posted this and it got me thinking too.

The most recent cyberpunk book I've read is Bang Bang Bodhisattva by Aubrey Wood. It's queer and does a great job in both the cyberpunk and noir departments, but a lot of stuff the protags have to deal with is close enough to home to be depressing as shit. Its why I have to be in a mood to read cyberpunk, I'm depressed enough as it is.

I think that is one reason I like the game Destiny so much. As grim as things get (from existential to omni-existential) there is always a thread of hope. While most of that thread is you punching gods to death, it is also in the philosophical. Different characters have different philosophies, but "I will not go quietly," runs through most. Also, "I will defeat you with the power of Friendship " is an excellent recent addition.

Its had me talking to both NPCs and villains about philosophy in my head, which is rare.

On Escapism

I think I’m getting tired of cyberpunk. I’ve been deep into the cyberpunk genre since at least high school, reading, watching, and playing everything I could find. It was science fiction that actua…

Played a bit of Smugglers of Cygnus yesterday. For an alpha that had an engine change, it's pretty good! I didn't have enough spoons to really get into it, but the mechanics that I experienced were solid.

The planet model was surprisingly detailed! I'm used to Star Trek Online's flat meshed orbs. Actual weather is cool.

Hey #Destiny fans: I have a friend looking for a good picture of Oryx's sword. Not just a Hive one.

An official render would be sweet.

They want a tattoo of it.

In Norway and getting in the mood to play a bunch of obscure games I own. Just watched the #WhaHappun episode on #AsurasWrath and remembered I got to the tea scene and never got farther...I think I have it as a Downloadable on a flash drive for my 360? We'll have to see if I'm still interested next week.

There was something else I've already forgotten about too.

This is kinda like the ending of OneShot. That the people live on in your files and your memory.

I still have the game installed just for that reason.

Such a good game.

Started playing Guardian Tales on my Switch. Think Genshin Impact, but lifting from A Link to the Past instead of Breath of the Wild.

A bunch of women that if their heads were drawn in wester proportions, it would be smaller than their breasts.

So yeah. I like the vampire with the plunging neckline on her dress.
She's also a healer oddly enough.

But yeah, its pretty fun. Haven't hit the paywall yet. Haven't run out of stamina actually. Though with the myriad of currencies, assorted modes and mini games, etc. I don't trust it in the least with real money. More to stave off gambling than they're any less scrupulous than any other freemium game.

Also, my hero is a lady knight who is also a cat.

New #DeepRockGalactic season on consoles today? Dangit, I just bought a new game.

It's a good game so far! Nearly though Coursant I think. (The first area.) A sequel in all the good ways thus far. It seems...faster? Or my memory makes me think JFO was slower.

I'm playing on Padawan (second easiest,) and I'm having to heal a lot more than I remember in JFO. Again, might just be misremembering.
