The most recent cyberpunk book I've read is Bang Bang Bodhisattva by Aubrey Wood. It's queer and does a great job in both the cyberpunk and noir departments, but a lot of stuff the protags have to deal with is close enough to home to be depressing as shit. Its why I have to be in a mood to read cyberpunk, I'm depressed enough as it is.
I think that is one reason I like the game Destiny so much. As grim as things get (from existential to omni-existential) there is always a thread of hope. While most of that thread is you punching gods to death, it is also in the philosophical. Different characters have different philosophies, but "I will not go quietly," runs through most. Also, "I will defeat you with the power of Friendship " is an excellent recent addition.
Its had me talking to both NPCs and villains about philosophy in my head, which is rare.
