Another thing I never expected to see in #Athens: Hundreds of #stalactites grown over the former entrance of a cave.

The cave is located on the southern slope of the #Tourkovounia hills. The internet says the it's called #Kakarapi cave.

… and yet ~another~ unusual place in #Athens, #Greece:

North of the city center, there is a range of hills called #Tourkovounia. One of the hills was used as a stone quarry to excavate building materials for the city. The quarry is long abandoned, and what's left is a pretty unreal landscape resembling the 'Wild West' rather than a park in the middle of a Greek city.
