Por si a alguien le es de ayuda: #Toshy 鹿, un keymapper que cambia los comandos de teclado de #linux por los de #mac (Cmd+q para cerrar y esas cosas).

I've migrated my gaming pc from windows 10 to #Zorin OS 18.

#Toshy is an absolute gem of #linux software if you are primarily a #macOS user. All my keyboard shortcuts are now familiar :)

@irfan Didn鈥檛 know about #Toshy. Thanks for sharing !
Something I loveee on my #Linux desktop is #Toshy - a project that replicates #macOS keybinds on Linux. It's very non-disruptive too, as it relies on systemd services to start/stop it.

I hope they'll figure out how to get it on
#Nix at some point in the future, and hopefully that'd get it to work on a #SteamDeck/#SteamOS machine too. Though the Steam Deck might add a bit more of a headache, since there's an entire separate Gaming Mode to consider and not just Desktop Mode (i.e. I don't think these keybinds are intended to cater to Gaming Mode as well, and may break some SteamOS key combs?).

Anyway, if you're coming from macOS to Linux and haven't tried Toshy yet - they're amazing. The sole/lead developer is an amazing person too who's never missed to help/address any issues I've/others've had.

Do any #Linux/#KDE users have an idea why an app, on a #KDEPlasma desktop, might start fine on the terminal, and application launcher, but not on #KRunner?

This has been happening for a long time now for me with
#virt-manager - tho that wasn't the case in the past for just as long. That being said, IIRC it's happened with the application launcher too, tho that works for me atm, but KRunner almost always fails to launch it - only the app icon appears to be loading on the dock/panel, then it disappears.

When it does happen, journalctl would report this error:

ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'libvirt'
---

Update: found the culprit -
#toshy, which is a really cool keymapping tool I use on my desktop that replicates #macOS like keybinds on a Linux desktop.

It's something to do with their
#Python virtualenv that's somehow being used by KRunner, that isn't being used elsewhere like on my shell terminal or application launcher. The missing python library isn't installed on that Toshy virtual env - expectedly. Not sure what to do about it just yet.

---

Update 2: Issued a bug report on Toshy, to see if they would know if this is something they could fix. A lot more context to this issue and my debugging could be found in that report.

---

Final update: It's a known issue caused by Toshy, and it's been fixed since March - I updated it and it works perfectly now YIPPEE <3

This is weird but alt + backspace no longer works on #Alacritty if you're using a #Fish shell, it does work on #Bash. I don't think this is a Fish "issue" either, since that keybind still works as expected, with Fish, on #Konsole. Anyone knows how to fix this?

---

edit:

I just realised that this is prolly not an issue with Alacritty + Fish on a "vanilla" setup - this only occurs when using
#Toshy, a neat utility I've been using for a (long) while now that configures and mimics a #macOS like keybinds on a #Linux system through a service (that can easily be stopped/started, etc.).

I've reported this
issue on their repo to see if they're able to figure this out. It most likely has something to do with the new Fish 4.0.0 release, since I'm still using the same Alacritty (and Toshy) version since this issue started.

Does anyone know how to update #Toshy config to do whatever it does to replicate the #macOS keyboard exp on #Linux, except, leaving the media keys alone i.e. F1-F12 and let the keyboard do whatever it normally does?

For example, previously on my MX Keys Mini the F4 and F5 keys (without holding FN) would decrease/increase the keyboard backlights - now it doesn't with or without. The F7 key used to open
#KDEPlasma's Emoji Selector, now it doesn't.
