“Enrica Bonaccorti è stata una paziente eccellente. Ho conosciuto una donna con moltissime qualità che ha sfruttato nel suo percorso oncologico”. Giampaolo Tortora, direttore dell’Unità di Oncologia Medica della Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Gemelli IRCCS di Roma, è il medico cui la compianta conduttrice si è rivolta quando ha scoperto la malattia. Intervistato dal Corriere, spiega: “È riuscita a superare l’aspetto drammatico, il dolore, la paura. Che ci sono e non potrebbe essere diversamente. Ma essendo una persona dotata di grande classe, ironia e di senso dell’umorismo, è stata capace di continuare a vivere, ridere, fare battute. In questo senso spero che il suo esempio possa essere utile ad altri”.

Bonaccorti era malata di cancro al pancreas, uno dei più complicati da curare. Alla diagnosi la massa non era operabile. Per questo si è proceduto con “una combinazione di chemio e radioterapia” nella speranza di farla regredire, ma non ci si è riusciti. Eppure, in ogni fase della malattia, la conduttrice “ha avuto sempre fiducia in noi medici, nella scienza, nelle terapie che le abbiamo proposto” racconta il medico che l’ha avuta in cura. “Anche questo è un atteggiamento che aiuta molto, ancor di più quando le cose vanno male. Non è affatto semplice capire che si è fatto tutto il meglio, ma che non ha funzionato. Se si riesce ad accettarlo con serenità, però, si può godere al meglio il tempo che resta”, sono le sue parole. “È stata consapevole dal primo momento che era una situazione complicata” conclude Tortora. “Ha avuto fiducia, ha sperato, ha accettato l’evoluzione degli eventi con serenità”.
