Steve's PlaceTony Gwynn averaged only 29 strikeouts in 617 at-bats per 162 games over a 20 year career. He only walked 52 times, on average, per year. The man liked to hit the ball, and he was damn good at it.

KenOne of my all time favorite #Baseball players. #TonyGwynn was one of the, if not THE, best hitters in #MLB. He played his entire 20 year career with the #SanDiegoPadres he had 541 plate appearances against ⚾️#HOF pitchers and only struck out 26 times! That would be unheard-of in today's game.
Tony was also a great person off the field. #GiveBack

I was lucky enough to see him play in several games and all I can say, he had the smoothest swing that I've ever seen.
