There were two television sci-fi openings from my childhood that I always found deliciously creepy, especially when I watched them on a tiny b&w television at 1 am while everyone else was asleep.
The first and most widely known is, of course, the classic Ron Grainer/Delia Derbyshire #DoctorWho theme.
The second is Dudley Simpson's original #TomorrowPeople theme. (The titles of Fringe always reminded me of it, at least visually).
Don't be a sap. Learn about the next stage in human evolution, known as "The Tomorrow People," which premiered on April 30, 1973. Complete with telekinetic powers and sentient computers, the kids of this British children's TV series slipped subversive messages into a show that proved to have staying power long after cancelation. Follow Sci-Fi 5 for your daily dose of science-fiction history.
Good evening from Thaxted. Here I am tucked up in bed reading the #Look-In #annual from 1976, and I'm transported back to #Christmas #1977 when I was tucked up in bed reading the #TomorrowPeople comic strip in that year's book. I was deeply engrossed in their abduction by a #UFO when a hand grabbed my leg and I jumped a mile! It was mum telling me it was time to put the light out.
Nobody grabbing my leg tonight, unless a TP jaunts in. John was my favourite. Pax!
