Leaning towards pure heavy metal, this Italian band made an entire album, "Darkness Shall Prevail", dedicated to Tolkien stories. This is a song from this release.

Of course, sometimes #TolkienInspired songs aren't metal, but you know someone will make it metal. So my next #PowerFriday song is a cover of Ed Sheeran's song about the desolation of Smaug from the Hobbit movies. The movies sucked, Jackson seemed to fundamentally miss the fact that the Hobbit is a children's book, and got way too obsessed with CGI.

But damn if this version of the song isn't really good.

Blind Guardian came to my mind instantly. In 1998 they released Nightfall In Middle-Earth, a concept album based upon Tolkien's The Simarillion. One of my favorite tracks on this album is Into The Storm.
