It has been with me for decades, an incessant cavalcade of beeps, hisses, and whistles.
I would sell my soul for 5 minutes of silence.
Today I took a nap with the earplugs I recently bought. I slept for three hours in the most complete and beautiful silence. These things are a one-way trip; I didn't want to take them off. It was a great relief for my brain and greatly reduced my tinnitus.

Found a quick but gross, temporary and probably not healthy-in-the-long-term relief for my #tinnitus :
I put my pinky in the affected ear, turn it sideways to block the air inside, and then pull it out so that it makes a loud POP! (Have to be careful not to damage the ear).
Whine is gone and I can still hear everything else. The whine will come back in a few minutes.

HEARING FEAR: Ammanford star Owain Wyn Evans warns âI was missing conversationsâ
The Ammanford-born broadcaster and drummer says he first noticed something was wrong when he started missing parts of conversations â after years performing in loud environments.
âIt was a shock,â he admitted. âI realised I was turning the volume up more and missing things people were saying.â
Now the 42-year-old is fronting a campaign with Specsavers â urging people not to ignore the warning signs.

A staggering 45% of adults in Wales say their hearing has changed in recent years â yet more than a quarter havenât taken any action and donât plan to.
Even more concerning, over a third say theyâve never taken steps to protect their hearing at all.
For Owain, the issue goes beyond health â itâs about identity.
âSound is such a huge part of who we are in Wales,â he said. âFrom the countryside to the sea â those sounds connect us to home.â
