David AllanI have been meaning to photograph Durham's South Bailey for some time now.
I did photograph it previously, but after some roadworks were undertaken, instead of replacing the cobbles, the dug-up section running down the middle of the road was just filled with tarmac!
It stayed like that for a few years before finally, funding was found to not only completely re-surface the road with cobbles to an impressive standard, but provide two running strips for the few vehicles that need access.
The completed work looks really good and once again, this lovely corner of the city is once again exuding an almost timeless picture.
