S08E05 - Blaenafon, South Wales How do you lose something as big and recent as an eighteenth century railway viaduct; indeed, the first of its kind? Tony and the #TimeTeam investigate, and dig their biggest hole ever: eleven metres! But they do it with neither pint nor pitcher for the full 46m 42s.
S08E04 - Waltham, Gloucestershire Searching for the remains of a Roman villa in the Cotswolds not too far from #Wycomb, Tony and the #TimeTeam find a lot of “high status pot,” but find neither a pub nor a drop of drink. This was a dry run for all of its 46m 36s.
S08E03 - Llygadwy, Wales Subtitled “The Celtic Spring,” this episode sees the #TimeTeam investigate a remarkably dubious set of stone monuments in deepest, darkest Wales. And the decision that it’s all just a modern hoax doesn’t even comes with a consoling drink - just 46m 25s of dry archaeology.
S08E02 - Alderton, Northamptonshire #TimeTeam are called by a bloke with more money than sense, who bought a castle sight unseen & needed help deciphering the medieval ruins. I used to live 15m away, so was fascinated. Drink is held off until 24m 16s though, and champers with the local landowners.
S08E01 - Normanton, Lincolnshire On the search for what is initially an elusive Anglo-Saxon cemetery, the #TimeTeam go “from famine to feast” in terms of bones, to quote Tony, but for all that, it’s also a bone dry episode, right up to its 46m 46s conclusion, with nary a drink in sight.
S07 Special - York Tony & the #TimeTeam are in York, looking to discover how the people of that city lived and died through the centuries. Surprisingly, in a 46m 23s episode it takes them until the 45m 49s mark to find drink - I’m not sure I’d trust these guys to find water in a functioning well. 🤨
* Technically, there’s drink being shared about 20s earlier, but that’s old footage from an earlier #TimeTeam dig in Orkney, while the 58m 30s drinking is new alcohol in a new (and somewhat annoyingly unspecified) pub setting. It was clearly five o’clock somewhere, thank heavens!
S07 Special - The Real King Arthur In arguably the oddest episode yet, the #TimeTeam themselves don’t actually dig for anything - Tony just watches a handful of other archeologists digging at various sites in Wales, and no one gets a drink. So, a very “special” 47m 02s of nowt stronger than tea.
The odds are stacking up: I write the wiki page for lifting stones, and the same day my friend asks me whether I want to go to a book launch about stone lifting the next day. I write the proposal for settlement=transhumance, and same week #TimeTeam has a video about a possible shieling. Weird. #OpenStreetMap #BaaderMeinhofEffect
S07 Special - Tankerness, Orkney Investigating Mine Howe, Tony and the #TimeTeam tell us that “the whole archeological world is agog.” Well, I’m agog that although the Highland Park appears at a perfectly laudable 5m 19s, it takes the team until 24m 59s before anyone is seen with glass in hand.
