On #ThisDayInHistory in 2020, the #TigrayWar began in northern #Ethiopia. A civil war with distinct #genocidal elements, exact casualty figures are disputed but likely around 600,000 dead. That it was fully ignored in US media was deeply offensive. Many deaths were of starvation.

Western govts, the UN, humanitarian agencies and also the African Union could have done much more to prevent the war, which some consider a genocide, and also done more to avert the mass hunger and starvation.
