I finally stopped by Ham Radio Outlet in #Tigard #PDX and they were the nicest people! ❤️ They showed me a variety of options: Yaesu FT-60 (this is the universal entry-level handheld radio for newbies), FT5D (touchscreen), and VX-6 (waterproof): https://www.hamradio.com (I also asked if they sell Meshtastic things; they sadly do not.)
