Overview The City of Olympia is the capital city of the State of Washington and the county seat of Thurston County, facing the waterways that eventually lead to Whidbey Island and the San Juan Islands with the open Pacific Ocean to the west. Currently, the community of Olympia is associated with the Olympia Farmers Market and the South Puget Sound area, the Olympic Peninsula to the northwest.
