Also at #Thursley, my first reptile of the year, a Common Lizard on the boardwalk over the bog on Thursday. Sunny spells with occasional cloud, perfect weather for seeing species that like to sunbathe when they need to warm up a bit. #UKWildlife #photography #reptiles

Common Gorse was looking very fine at #Thursley on Thursday when I called in hoping for Woodlark (failed) and Dartford Warbler (saw one! yay!). Such fantastic flowers when you stop to look at them. #WildflowerHour #Surrey #Bloomscrolling #botany #plants #flowers #wildflowers #photography

Day 16 of the 2024 #dragonfly #AdventCalendar. Keeled Skimmer is a very common species of bogs and fens, rarely seen elsewhere. They look and behave a bit like darters, rather than like the closely-related Black-tailed Skimmer. Day 14 of the 2023 #dragonfly #AdventCalendar. Common Blue is one of two UK damselfly species which are very common and have males which are very blue. In really good spots you may see them flying in swarms. I went to #Thursley NNR hoping for lizards and dragonflies, and it didn't disappoint. This is a Common Lizard. They like to bask in the sun on the wooden boardwalk that allows visitors to take a close look at the bog without getting wet feet. #wildlife #wildlifephotography #reptiles

There was a big fire at #Thursley a couple of years ago. Happily things are now growing back.
