The #Whitestone Bridge connects #ThroggsNeck and Ferry Point Park in the #Bronx with the Whitestone neighborhood of #Queens.
Proposed in 1905, it was not approved until 1936 and opened in April, 1939. Today, it sees some 120,000+ vehicles, daily.
The Whitestone once had the fourth-largest center span (2,300 feet) of any suspension bridge in the world. The #bridge has a total length of 3,700 feet, its towers reach 377 feet above water level. The clearance under the bridge is 134 feet 10 inches.
