Thousand Islands: An Ancient Granite Bridge
Thousand Islands National Park is situated on the Frontenac Arch, a geological feature much older than the islands themselves. This ridge of ancient granite connects the Canadian Shield to the Adirondack Mountains in the US. The St. Lawrence River flooded the lowlands of this 'granite bridge' after the last ice age, creating the iconic archipelago. #Canada #ThousandIslands #Geology #Ontario 🇨🇦
