The IOC has recommended that international sports federations allow athletes from Russia and Belarus to compete in tournaments in a neutral status, but has postponed consideration of their participation in the Olympics. The head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, said that Russian and Belarusian athletes could compete under certain conditions. In particular, they must compete as neutral athletes, and teams from Russia and Belarus will not participate. Athletes and personnel who actively support the war and athletes who have a contract with the Russian and Belarusian armies are also not allowed to participate.
