Beispiel? #ThisWarOfMine.
11-bit Studios has merch, and I’d love a #ThisWarOfMine t-shirt or hoodie, but they only go up to 2XL.
Years ago, the Bavarian Bier Cafe held a promotion. IIRC, you had to drink a shot of schnapps and a stein of weissbier, eat a joint of pork and sides, all within an hour. In return, you got it all free of charge, and a t-shirt to boot. But, because I’d stumbled into the promo just before it ended, all they had left were size S shirts.
Who the fuck do they think their target market is?

River's Edge by Okazaki Kyoko
CW: Casual violence, sexual violence, queerphobia, disordered eating, knife play, death, SA, DV, high sexuality
I finished this manga last night. I should not have read it before bed. *Bad juju*
It tells the story of high schoolers going through life crises at pace. The economic situation in their small town has left scars on both them and the town itself. There is a feeling of accepted depravity and hopelessness.
There is a genre of video games I call desperation survivals. This War of Mine is one, Life is Strange 2 is another. Differing play styles and approaches for sure, but the emotional core is one of decline.
This book is that: A vivid look at how thin and fragile civility is, and what happens beyond it.
I'm not sure if I liked it or not, but I've thought about little else since.
A powerful affect. And apparently the mangaka is just like this. Most all her works are in a similar vein.

#StephanieSterling revisits #ThePath, a game that fascinated me way back when.

I'm not convinced it stands the test of time, but then I haven't recently replayed it. It's not exactly a fun game, but it might be relevant and an important piece of art.
Steph also mentions #ThisWarOfMine as the epitome of games that aren't fun but relevant. Totally agree there.
#ThisWarOfMine #Boardgames Remastered Edition just launched on #GameFound.

The game is an adaption of the #11BitStudios digital game. I own the original board game, so I'm not going for this. I do have a very high opinion of it, though, it's one of the best examples of how games can be more than mere entertainment. This goes for both the digital and the board game versions.
