Most Mystical Incarnation

I have a thing about fog.

Waking to a day where the view is swathed in white, neighbors fading into the background while rooftops peek above a hidden world. Sight is no longer quite as reliable. Sound is dampened, too. A car appears suddenly, and is then gone, the engine’s rumble muted and distant.

Depending on the mood, the lack of visibility can be threatening, but I tend to see it as an embrace. Wisps of moisture flow past tree limbs and flagpoles, porch steps and windshields. On days like today, those wisps extend, discover, then freeze in place. When the fog lifts, trees are covered in a shimmer of white. Magic made real.

As one writer put it, fog is water in its most mystical incarnation.

I call it a delight.

I recently finished up "Tactical Breach Wizards", an indie game I enjoyed *far* more than expected. The core gameplay loop's tactical puzzles are fun and interesting throughout, thanks to the steady introduction of new mechanics. The low-poly aesthetic grew on me over time.

But the real joy of the game is the writing. Oh, the writing! Distinct character voices, genuinely funny throughout, with moments of wounded pathos and delightful warmth. Capital!

I'm naturally much worse than I want to be at keeping up with friends and family. This is due in equal measures to introversion and absent-mindedness.

A while back, I went hunting for tools to help with this. I settled on Queue, a "personal CRM". It reminds me to contact people I care about when I haven't done so for a while and to take notes about those chats.
