strong parallel here with what they called in #TheDawnOfEverything the actuarial sense, that modern people don’t see the damage they do to people.
Hey, is anyone here on a site along with the surviving David, Wengrow, Twitter, Bluesky?
.
would you send the above definition along to him, please? 💜💜💜

I give people too much credit, it takes me a long time to figure someone is stupid, but Good Lord, I mean Lady, I am casting my pearls before a world of stupid.
.
I have a lot of deficits, there are a lot of things I struggle to learn, most things really, but I don’t struggle with what the Davids informed me in #TheDawnOfEverything are called actuarial matters like most of the world does. It seems straightforward to me, I’m far too stupid elsewhere to think I’m a genius (and anyway my IQ doesn’t approach “genius,” officially), but Good Lady, it’s either that or the vast majority has a really short spike for that, and in adulthood, often none at all.
.
Just like Temple Grandin has a theory of a cow’s mind and could see things happening the regular cattlemen couldn’t, that’s me about people, that’s the actuarial sense, a non-Allistic theory of mind about people, seeing what the environment does to people.
I’m not sure if it’s right to say Grandin’s sense about cows is the actuarial one, or if that word is just for people. It would be cool to ask them.
.
I suppose it is right, we don’t have senses that are just “about,” certain things and not others, do we? It’s not the object that defines it.
.
So, change of definition, it’s larger than just knowing what the environment does to people, it works with other minds too, I think the actuarial sense is just a non-Allistic (not authority based) Theory of Mind.
.
And again, there’s more complexity, because many Allistics have it, and can deal with horses and such. It is mostly only absent regarding people! When we see someone trying to apply the severely Allistic theory of mind they talk about when they’re talking about Autistic people with a horse or a cat, we know they’re being stupid, even they do.
.
But mostly, as regards people, they don’t see the stupid.

While I’m on the subject of me being wrong, I wrote a big one and got some love for writing that creationism is old school and evolution is new because stone tools are old and farming is new - I consider that all backwards and Allistic now, evolution is life and of coarse life knowledge predates tools.
.
Now to me, the idea of the creationist toolmaker’s myth, that things have makers and purposes, it’s strong, but it is still new and probably Allistic. I don’t have a specific strong argument for this right now, but this is my default on the #AutisticScience side of the looking glass, life first. 💜

I had bought in, I think I wrote blogs with the idea that we desensitized ourselves about the livestock first and then adapted that attitude for people, but that doesn’t fit anymore, the desensitization starts at home, about people first.

just stimming, mind ya business 😈

I don’t think it’s about pastoralists, about animal husbandry leading to war, the causality looks the other way around to me, a warrior wants a horse. I don’t think that’s the big conflict, like it is in Ishmael. #TheDawnOfEverything painted a different picture, those were all the same people, sort of.
.
I think.

“The Dawn of Everything”: David Wengrow & the Late David Graeber On a New History of Humanity

meh, go read it. I forgot, but the ninety pages of that thing is as short an infodump as I’ve ever managed about it.
.
Autistic infodumps rarely find a real end because a different brain means we experience a different whole world.
.
The first few short appendices are in line with the book and the last few are a little different. 💜
.
I’ll try a too short version:
.
1. somewhere maybe after the ice was gone, some group of humans went all fighter, all alpha all the time. Perhaps some alpha had it all their way and the whole tribe were his alpha children. Maybe it was in isolation somehow, but this group begins living war and taking over the world, replacing the peaceful Neolithic farmers. The Neolithic collapse between seven and five millennia ago is supposed to have come from the east.
.
2. In theory that culture from the east existed for some time, a millennium or two, and I suppose, that the violence of that society made them unsustainable and they spilled over into Europe for land and resources.
.
3. So that culture destroyed Neolithic Old Europe’s civilization, and it took a millennium or more before we see the stone fortifications of Egypt and Sumer, but here’s the thing, my insight. The Chalice has these first great civilizations rising with new religions, gods, laws, and legends and imposing new rules on society, creating Eisler’s new social model - but first, back to the Old Europe collapse, many of the people of Old Europe were slaughtered, causing a dearth of the peaceful Neolithic genes, and planting their own seeds and making life a selection event for people who can’t or won’t fight.
.
4. So the invasion starts with a genetic change, but that situation isn’t stable, the invaders’ genes continue to evolve, adapting to their own violent social structure and life, and selecting for the new genes among the hybrid conquered, until again, the population becomes too aggressive to be sustainable and first it is expansion, war and empire to the next peaceful Neolithic population and when that’s all been done and they’re mostly the new sort, collapse.
.
5. The Bronze age collapse next, perhaps another between classical times and medieval times, but then expansions again, the age of sailing and the New world, where by that time as Joseph Campbell said, some were already new sorts, from contact across the Pacific, but where #TheDawnOfEverything suggests many still weren’t, by that Kandiaronk’s comments.
.
The last few appendices deal speculatively with the Americas and the arctic being still somewhat old stock, but the conquest is continuing, isn’t it.
.
6. So it’s an immediate genetic change, followed by a forced evolution, each empire and collapse, until the Neolithic peoples are gone. That’s drift, right? So it’s like who said, HG Wells, invasion by hard pastoralists, then they go soft in the city, ripe for the next wave of invaders, but they went soft for a reason, the invaders take on some peaceful genes for a time, before they evolve back up to do their own invading. Ebb and explode, sort of. Rhythmic.
.
7. This whole story is over now, or almost. Most of the wars now are new sorts on both sides, but perhaps they still think the enemy is some other sort. I mean, again the main one, of the new sort’s war against the Neolithic folks carries on against the true Indigenous, and against the non-Allistic. I think that’s what’s so bad about Autistics to them, that we look no good in a fight.
.
8. Wow, that’s a whole blog, and surely too short to be understood. Sorry, I tried. HNY. 😀
