A while ago, I had the opportunity to conduct an Interactive/Forum theatre workshop with some young people in London, organised by The Young Changemakers. The session was a much-needed reminder about how joyous and impactful this practice is. I started doing forum theatre when I was 11 years old, and it provided me with all the basic tools for communication, self-expression and community engagement that I still use today.

There is a degree of #ableism in my approach to #facilitation that I’ve recently become aware of. I use many #TheatreOfTheOppressed techniques to get people on their feet and interacting with others to collectively express and create solutions to issues in their lives. However, not everyone can get on their feet.

At the same time, working with a mentor has been making me more aware of how we express and hold so much of our experiences and emotions in our bodies. 1/2
