A série, baseada na trilogia The Warlord Chronicles de Bernard Cornwell, oferece uma nova e ousada visão das lendas do rei Arthur.

Ambientada na Britânia do Século V, The Winter King acompanha Arthur Pendragon (Iain De Caestecker), que retorna a Dumnonia para manter a paz até que seu irmão mais novo tenha idade para assumir o trono.
