Thousands rally in Adelaide in Yes campaign event ahead of Voice to Parliament referendum

The Yes campaign said the large turnout at its major Adelaide rally was "very encouraging" to its hopes of convincing South Australian voters to back the Voice.

This from Malinauskis is quite rousing:

“If our forefathers and mothers can say yes to universal franchise, if our great grandparents can say yes to waves of migration, if our grandparents can say yes in 1967, if our parents can say yes to land rights, then this generation is capable of saying yes to an advisory committee.”

The way I see #thevoiceau is that it creates what is, functionally, an embassy for the nations that were here before the invasion.

Much like the British Embassy or Indian Embassy or Italian Embassy, it has no power, it cannot make the government of the day do anything, but what it can do, like all embassies, is to advise the government on how decisions will impact their people, and indeed argue for policies that are in their interests. An embassy ensures diplomatic relationships are healthy and maintained.

Why does it have to be a constitutional change? Because *Australia* has to create the "embassy" since, well, they're Australian. Its the only way to do so and make it permanent.

It will not effect me, a European Australian, even remotely. And it may not do anything. But it might actually make a difference, and that is what The Statement From The Heart asked for. It seems churlish to say "no" to such a request, and thus I'll be voting #Yes.

Re: the voice. Anyone opposed to it needs to ask themselves to reverse the logic!

If white Australians were in the 3% minority. Had their land stolen and had disease inflicted upon them by their invaders. Had the highest incarceration rate. Were dying in custody. Died significantly younger. Lived in serious poverty etc.
And you ask if “could white fellas at least be allowed to advise on matters affecting us?” What would the answer be?
This isn’t hard. #thevoice #thevoiceau
