#TIL that the word OVERRIDE predates computers.

Reading through #Tolkien's #TheTwoTowers:
"...leaping back into the saddle, [Aragorn] rode away for some distance eastward, keeping to one side and taking care not to #override the footprints."

Makes sense; horses/tracking have been around for much longer than computers. One can surmise that modern usage extrapolates on that metaphor of "riding over" old #data to replace it with the footprints of the new. Neat!

Last week, I kept going to bed and putting The Lord of the Rings, Fellowship of the Ring on as I settled down to sleep.

It took me all week to finish it, as it's almost 3.5hrs long not including the 20 mins of credits.

This week, I am doing the same with The Two Towers... which is again over 3.5hrs long not including the credits.

I strongly suspect that next week... I will be doing Return of the King... which is the longest of the three at 4hrs 23m including credits.... and I usually try to spot my old friends name in the extras list.

Thus will complete my almost annual watch of the trilogy.

Just finished Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. WOW! I absolutely LOVED it!

I think I really liked this one as all the character setup had happened in Fellowship of the Rings, now this one was all about action and drama. Absolutely hooked.

Can't wait for Return of the King!

@ami_angelwings that’s how the wilderness trek felt in #TheTwoTowers when I read it. One of the things that most impressed me about the Peter Jackson films was managing to make that sequence bearable.

#TheLordOfTheRings - #TheTwoTowers (15/18 Std.)

"A red sun rises. Blood has been spilled this night." Legolas sagt schon ziemlich blödes Zeug. Jedenfalls witzig, wie weit die Gefährten im ersten Film gekommen sind und wie wenig Strecke sie in der Fortsetzung machen. Ein bisschen Rohan, ein bisschen Fangorn, ein bisschen Isengard ... aber die Begegnungen sind schon ziemlich cool: Ents, Gandalf The White, der Witch-King auf seinem Fell-Beast ... naja, und Smeagol.
