Nothing like starting the New Year off with a marathon of the Thin Man movies on TCM.
Later, we may peak at the Rose Parade.
Kelly and I have a few traditions. One of which is, after the day is done, watching βThe Thin Manβ every Christmas. It is a Christmas film after all.
Another is watching βAnother Thin Manβ every New Yearβs, for the exact same reason.
Has anyone else watch "The Thin Man" movie series? The 1st film in the series came out in 1934. They're basically detective movies set in the 30s and 40s with William Powell and Myrna Loy. Oh and a wire haired terrier named Skippy.
If you haven't and like classic movies, I highly recommend them. My grandma introduced them to me years ago along with a lot of other classes cinema. I ran across them while fixing our Plex server and started watching them again.
James Stewart's greatest performance was in the conclusion of After the Thin Man (1936) with William Powell and Myrna Loy. Just watch and marvel at the range of emotions he demonstrates in just a few minutes!
Classic Film Club to screen, well..., a classic film (duh), The Thin Man (1934), starring William Powell and Myrna Loy, at Marquis Theater in #MiddleburyVT #Vermont, 1 p.m., Feb. 20. Free.
See:
- A reluctant detective solve a murder;
- A little dog steal scenes;
- Cool trick shots with a BB gun.
- A wisecracking couple consume massive amounts of alcohol.
One of my all-time favorites (and I don't even drink).
