I finally got to see the film The Substance on the streaming service Mubi yesterday.
Was extremely impressed by the cinematography. The shots the director chose were chef's kiss! I also loved the score and sound effects, which reminded me more than a little of the movie Pi back in the day.
I heard that the last bit of the show was going to be extremely gory, but I mostly felt the poignancy of the lead character being misunderstood, and identified with her.
For those that like social/media commentary and are ok with graphic horror, did you have a similar read on the show?
