I bought a book in a lovely small bookstore in the small town of Keitum on the island of Sylt about two years ago. The store is a kind of a mythic place for me, every time we visit the island for vacation I have to go there and buy a book, it has a magic atmosphere to it. It is by Seneca and is called “About the brevity of life. About a happy life.” It has left a deep impression on me.

Routine was born out of a moment of political disillusionment.
After watching certain global events unfold, I found myself wondering how we’re supposed to continue with our everyday lives when the world around us feels morally unstable. How do we return to our routines when so much seems out of balance?

Neglected Native History: the #Cuyahoga River’s #Indigenous Legacy

"In 1795, the Treaty of Greenville established the eastern border of Native American territory along the Cuyahoga River. This was one of many lopsided treaties over the following decades to be eventually broken.
"Years of conflict, disease and American Indian removal from Ohio resulted in very few Native Americans remaining in the Cuyahoga Valley by 1805, says Redmond. By this point, there were essentially no large concentrations of indigenous populations left."
