Die Siedler II was released 30 years ago in Germany on 17th April 1996 for DOS.

Alongside X-Wing and Worms, this was one of the first games that I played for a considerable time and really understood how to play, other than having a turn at platformer or fighting games on a friend's console.

Small update on my #Thinkpad 755C. I put in a 4GB CF-Disk (8GB isn't supported by the BIOS) and installed #MSDOS 6.22 with #Windows311 on one partition and #Windows95 on a second partition.
It was a bit painful to find all necessary drivers, and the #DOS driver for the soundcard is almost unusable - mostly distorted and when speech is output, the laptop freezes. The Windows 95 drivers are better, but I haven't gotten the DOS games to use them, yet.
Also, some games like #Albion or #TheSettlers don't like the Western Digital graphics card.
But a lot of the old games I liked work fine, like #MightAndMagic 4/5 and #IndianaJones 3 and 4. It's more a nostalgia project, I know the games work better using DOSBox or Wine.

The Settlers II Gold Edition Comes to Amiga on October 18th 2025

Hi everyone,

Today I have some great news for all of you who are enjoy playing games on your Amiga! The Settlers II Gold Edition is scheduled for an Amiga release on October 18th 2025.

With an official license from Ubisoft Entertainment, the game will be available natively for the Amiga. Not as a quick port, but as an optimized version that shows what the Amiga is really capable of.

It will be available for both 68k based systems and PowerPC, such as systems running AmigaOS 4.1.
