Today's random #Discogs choice The Scaffold and Lily The Pink 7" 1968. We all need some medicinal compound at some point in our lives. The b-side is rather fab too, Buttons On Your Mind is a lovely little folk style song. Wonderful all round.

It wasn't just the elites, who could wax poetical about their experience, but also the hoi polloi. Opium was used in a huge variety of popular remedies. As late as 1970 in the UK, you could buy a bottle of Dr Collis-Browne's cough mixture over the counter. It contained 10% liquid extract of opium.
